Chicago Fed: National Activity Index (CFNAI) decreased to 0.17 in September from 0.27 in August

“The Chicago Fed National Activity Index (CFNAI) decreased to +0.17 in September from +0.27 in August,” the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago reported on Monday.

  • The CFNAI Diffusion Index, which is also a three-month moving average, was unchanged at +0.18 in September.
  • The contribution from production-related indicators to the CFNAI moved down to +0.11 in September from +0.16 in August.
  • Employment-related indicators contributed +0.07 to the CFNAI in September, up slightly from +0.06 in August.
