The upcoming Greek debt deal certainly helped improve market atmosphere. In the US, jobless claims plunged dramatically to a nearly four-year low of 352,000 claims, 50,000 down from the prior week, while early expectations stood on 387K. The Philly Fed Index reached 7.3 points with a dominant employment factor. These good employment readings give further boost to the recovering job market. Will the job market continue to improve? In the US, Unemployment Claims, weekly report for the new unemployment insurance, due to rise from 364K up to 372K.

Positive US figures released last week suggest careful optimism regarding the current US economic condition with another drop in weekly jobless claims to 364,000 and Consumer sentiment revised up to 67.7 Will this positive trend continue? The delay of the S&P report for the euro-zone to January should provide some relief as well.

In the US, Automatic Data Processing, Inc. (ADP) Non-Farm Employment Change, measures the number of employed people over the last month (without government & farming industry), rise is expected from 110K on October up to 131K.

Apart from the debt crisis, figures around the globe have been mixed. The drop in Chinese manufacturing PMI was worrying, but German Business Climate provided a rather rare positive surprise with an addition of 0.2 points reaching 106.6 and in the US, Core Durable Goods Orders increased by 0.7%, well above expectations, also Unemployment claims remained below the 400,000 line reaching 393,000, broadly within expectations.
