Authorities in the United States set to leverage blockchain technology for intellectual property rights

  • The Commercial Customs Operations Advisory Committee (COAC) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), will be meeting to discuss the use of blockchain.

Authorities in the United States are working on launching a blockchain pilot for the purpose of intellectual property rights.  

There is an upcoming Commercial Customs Operations Advisory Committee (COAC) meeting with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a federal law enforcement agency, as they intend to trial distributed ledger technology (DLT) in intellectual property rights (IPR) enforcement by the end of August 2019.

The report details that the CBP is are set to leverage blockchain technology in IPR enforcement. The agency are planning on conducting a DLT pilot later in August, and the testing phase will run till late September 2019.
