The UK government has defeated the amendment proposed by the pro-EU conservative lawmakers to win the Brexit ‘meaningful vote’ (319 vs. 303) in the Parliament.
“The whole drama over giving Parliament a meaningful vote – and that 16-vote difference today – underscores how May’s biggest problem isn’t Brexit; It’s the result of that election a year ago that left her with a minority government in a deeply divided country. May herself has struggled ever since to say what she really wants,” Bloomberg’s Theresa Raphael reports.
