China launches anti-subsidy probe on US polyphenylene ether imports

China’s Commerce Ministry announced on Friday, it launched an anti-subsidy investigation into imports from the US of polyphenylene ether.

Earlier this month, Beijing started an anti-dumping probe into the US polyphenylene ether imports.

This comes just a day ahead of the US and China’s first of their biannual “Trade Framework Group” meetings.

US Trade Representative Lighthizer and Chinese Vice President Liu He are likely to meet this Saturday to discuss the implementation of the phase one trade deal among other issues.

AUD/USD remains pressured

AUD/USD remains on the back foot amid disappointing Chinese data, dovish RBA Lowe’s remarks and ahead of the US-China trade talks.

At the time of writing, the spot trades at 0.7140, down 0.10% on the day.
