China looking to increase chip purchases to resolve the trade dispute – WSJ

Citing officials familiar with the matter, The Wall Street Journal’s  Lingling Wei said that China is planning to boost purchases of U.S. semiconductors to $200 billion over 6 years with an aim to reach a trade truce with the U.S.

“China is counting on promises of big purchases of semiconductors and other U.S. goods to ease trade tensions and persuade President Trump to extend a tariff truce and later resolve the market-rattling dispute directly with Chinese leader Xi Jinping,” Wei said.
