The latest data published by Florida’s health department showed that the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the state rose by 9,488, or 5.6%, on Friday to a total of 178,594.
This reading followed Thursday’s increase of 10,101 and the percentage change came in slightly lower than the seven-day average of 5.8%.
Market reaction
The US Dollar Index, which tracks the greenback’s performance against a basket of six major currencies, largely ignored these figures and was last seen flat on the day at 97.21.
