Crunching Commodities – MM #96

We take a step back from the Fed focus, Draghi digest and other regular stuff and look into commodities: crude oil, copper and natural gas as we enter the Spring.

  1. Crude Oil: The price of black gold is  recovering, but is there a good reason for this? We tackle three aspects:  sentiment shift, US dollar and the supply side. We look forward to the next moves, coming in April, the OPEC / Non-OPEC meeting.
  2. Copper: This  basic metal is in heavy use, especially in China.  Imports are suddenly on the rise and we ask why this is happening, again,  dividing the  three areas of demand in the world’s No. 2 economy and this certainly impacts price.
  3. Natural Gas:  We come full circle  as oil and natural gas share a few characteristics of late, but there are significant differences.
  4. Preview: The turn of the month features a quick buildup to the NFP, the Fed’s favorite  inflation figure, key Chinese data and many more events.
