European Commission approves second contract with Moderna for 300 million doses of vaccine

The European Commission announced on Wednesday that they have approved a second contract with Moderna for an additional purchase of 300 million doses of coronavirus vaccine on behalf of all the European Union member states, as reported by Reuters.

“The new contract with Moderna provides for the possibility to donate vaccine to lower and middle-income countries,” the European Commission added.

Market reaction

This development doesn’t seem to be impacting the shared currency’s performance against its major rivals. As of writing, the EUR/USD pair was losing 0.37% on the day at 1.2060.
