Germany: Annual CPI rises to 2.3% (preliminary) in September vs 2% expected

According to the report released by the Destatis, the inflation in Germany as measured by the consumer price index (CPI) is expected to be 2.3% on a yearly basis in September compared to experts’ estimate of 2%.

“Based on the results available so far, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the consumer prices are expected to increase by 0.4% on August 2018,” Destatis further announced.

  • In September 2018, the harmonised index of consumer prices for Germany, which is calculated for European purposes, is expected to increase by 2.2% year on year and 0.4% on August 2018.
