Global market snapshot: Friday’s close and easing trade tensions – ANZ

Analysts at ANZ noted that equities gained on the back of easing trade tensions and subsiding concerns about rising US inflation (despite recent oil price gains).

“Over the session, the S&P 500 was up 0.2% and the Dow Jones was up 0.4%. Emerging market stocks also rose. Owing to euro strength, European bourses were down marginally. But the FTSE rose 0.1%, despite sterling regaining some poise.”

“The USD was flat, while the US 10-year yield held below 3.0% (closing at 2.97%).”

“Commodities slipped, as oil continues to consolidate.”

“WTI eased 1.1%, although was up over the week following the withdrawal of the US from the Iran nuclear deal.”
