As good as it gets? – US economy edition – MM #154

We’re back from our vacation and we  tackle the US economy given the recent data. Is it good enough? We tackle recent events before previewing  the next ones.

  1. US economic  indicators: The recent data coming out of the  US has been better, but expectations were quite low. Is this good enough? We dive into the bounce up in GDP growth and the recent jobs report. Wages are basically stuck, again and again.
  2. Which Fed makes the decision?: We can ponder if the recent data is good enough, but perhaps somebody else will decide. Gary Cohn could take a different stance than incumbent Janet Yellen.
  3. Preview: A quieter week awaits after the big storms but we get news from the pain point of the Fed: inflation. Also, watch out for Chinese data among other events.

After taking a short course about forex. Like many forex traders, I've earned a significant share of my knowledge the hard way. Macroeconomics, the impact of news on the ever-moving currency markets and trading psychology have always fascinated me. Before founding Forex Crunch, I've worked as a programmer in various hi-tech companies. I have a B. Sc. in Computer Science from Ben Gurion University. Given this background, forex software has a relatively bigger share in the posts.
