Irish PM Varadkar: EU united in view that Withdrawal Agreement could not be reopened

According to the latest headlines crossing the wires, during his phone conversation with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar said that the European Union was united its view that the Withdrawal Agreement cannot be reopened.

“Alternative arrangements could replace the backstop in the future but thus far satisfactory options had yet to be identified,” Varadkar said. “Northern Ireland’s Good Friday Agreement requires the sovereign government to exercise power with rigorous impartiality.”

In the meantime, the GBP/USD pair is down 0.33% on the day at 1.2675.
