Italy’s Conte, Tria reported working on a plan to cut deficit target to 2% – Il Messaggero

According to a report by Il Messaggero, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and Finance Minister Giovanni Tria are working on a proposal to cut deficit target and assure Brussels that it will not exceed the 2% level.

The proposal reportedly involves delaying by several months planned welfare and pension reforms, increasing the likelihood of a compromise sooner rather than later.
