The Nikkei Asian Review, a Japanese daily, cited the Japanese government sources over the weekend, as saying that Japan is mulling a bilateral trade agreement with the US.
The sources say the trade agreement would lower tariffs on the US agriculture imports in exchange for avoiding higher tariffs on Japanese autos.
Japanese Economy Minister Toshimitsu Motegi will meet the US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer later in the day ahead of the meeting between the US President Trump and Japan’s PM Abe scheduled on Sept, 26.
