Japan to spend JPY 2 trillion to counter the impact of 2019 sales tax hike

The news is crossing the wires via Nikkei Asian review that the Japanese government is planning to spend more than 2 trillion yen to counter the impact of the upcoming sales tax hike.

The government is scheduled to raise the sales tax to 10 percent next year from the current rate of 8 percent. Both Bank of Japan (BOJ) and the Japanese government are worried that the tax hike may eat into consumer buying power.
