May and Varadkar agree that the backstop should only be a temporary arrangement

According to the latest headlines floating on the wires, the UK PM Theresa May and Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, in a call on Monday, agreed that the intention was that the backstop should only be a temporary arrangement and there must be an end date.

Key points:

“¢   The best solution to the Northern Ireland border would be found by agreeing to a future relationship between the EU and UK.
“¢   May said that in order to ensure that the backstop, if needed, would be temporary there would need to be a mechanism through which the backstop could be brought to an end.
