A blast in a Mexican oil pipe kills 11 people in the Puebla region, in the center of Mexico. This could push oil prices higher at the beginning of the week.

The blast  occurred at the city of Texmelucan, in an oil pipeline operated by the national oil company Pemex. The BBC reports that a suspected attempt to steal fuel caused the explosion.

Crude oil closed at $88.68 a barrel – higher than last week, though still blocked by the resistance line of $90. The Canadian dollar enjoyed higher prices to tackle parity in recent weeks, but didn’t manage to conquer it.
