Statistics New Zealand will release Q1 CPI inflation data on 20 April. Economists at Standard Chartered Bank expect easing figures. NZD/USD is sitting at 0.5981.

Key quotes

“We expect inflation to have eased to 0.1% q/q (1.9% y/y) from 0.5% q/q (1.9% y/y) previously.”

“Tradables inflation was weighed down by lower oil prices but may have been supported slightly by a weaker NZD, as well as higher food prices (likely due to supply side disruptions).”
