Key Quotes

“Activity is grinding to a halt  as one-off factors dissipate. Our models point to few gains in the economy in August, with services and manufacturing both stagnant, while construction provides a meagre boost to nudge growth into positive territory. Risks are tilted toward no growth at all. July momentum should keep Q3 growth looking healthy, even if only superficially.”

“BoE Chief Economist Andy Haldane speaks at a “Future of Work” conference at 10am BST.”
