UK PM Johnson: Very good case for EU to strike a zero tariff zero quota deal

“I have no doubt there’s a very very good case for the EU to strike a zero tariff zero quota deal,” British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Thursday.

Commenting on the rising number of coronavirus cases in the UK, “we have to be ruthless about the quarantine policy,” Johnson said. “We will be looking at data on France and other countries today, we can’t allow the disease to come back in from abroad.”

Market reaction

These comments don’t seem to be having a significant impact on the GBP’s performance against its rivals. As of writing, the GBP/USD pair was up 0.4% on a daily basis at 1.3082.
