As reported by the UK Times, UK Prime Minister Theresa May could be willing to limit the UK’s ability to negotiate free trade deals post-Brexit in an effort to break the current Brexit negotiations deadlock with European Union leaders in Brussels.
The concession sees the UK potentially staying in the customs union longer than previously agreed, but will also see its ability to freely negotiate with outside countries long after 2020. This particular concession will likely see Brexiteers within the UK’s parliament foaming at the mouth, and the UK’s Boris Johnson was quoted as saying that if he were to be elected in the upcoming election, the UK would be staying within the EU for at least six more months in order to ensure a successful trade deal, but how that would be achieved by Johnson has been unexplained, and explanations and details from Eurosceptics remain thin.
