US: NFIB Business Optimism Index declines modestly to 95 in January vs. 98.7 expected

  • US NFIB Business Optimism Index edged lower in January.
  • US Dollar Index stays in the negative territory near 90.60.

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) reported on Tuesday that the Business Optimism Index in the US declined to 95 in January from 95.9 in December. This reading came in worse than the market expectation of 98.7. 

Market reaction

This report doesn’t seem to be having a significant impact on the greenback’s performance against its rivals. As of writing, the US Dollar Index was losing 0.25% on a daily basis at 90.61.
