US: Trade deficit narrows to $70.6 billion in June

  • US’ Goods Trade Balance came in at -$70.6 billion in June.
  • Wholesale Inventories declined by 2% to $626.9 billion.

The United States’ international trade deficit declined by $4.6 billion to $70.6 billion in June, the data published jointly by the US Census Bureau and the US Bureau of Economic Analysis showed on Wednesday.

“Exports of goods for June were $102.6 billion, $12.5 billion more than May exports,” the publication read. “Imports of goods for June were $173.2 billion, $7.9 billion more than May imports.”

Further details of the publication revealed that Wholesale Inventories in June fell by 2% to $629.6 billion and Retail Inventories decreased by 2.6% to $588.2 billion.

Market reaction

Market participants largely ignored these figures and the US Dollar Index was last seen losing 0.07% on the day at 93.66.
