US’s Pompeo urges India, Pakistan to avoid military action – Reuters

In a statement issued late-Tuesday, the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo urged India and Pakistan to avoid “further military activity” following the Balakot bombing by India, Reuters reports.

After speaking separately with the foreign ministers of India and Pakistan, Pompeo noted: “I expressed to both Ministers that we encourage India and Pakistan to exercise restraint, and avoid escalation at any cost. I also encouraged both Ministers to prioritize direct communication and avoid further military activity.”
