In an interview with The Hill, White House economic advisor Larry Kudlow said that the Federal Reserve is an independent central bank and added that they aimed to keep it that way. “That doesn’t mean we can’t express our opinions,” Kudlow further argued and said that he wouldn’t mind seeing a 50 basis point cut in the policy rate. On the trade negotiations with China, Kudlow reiterated that they have made “good progress” but it was too early to say that a deal was done.
