European Economic Commissioner Pierre Moscovici crossed the wires in the last hour, saying that he is hopeful to reach a deal on budget with Italy and is working to make sure that Italy won’t be sanctioned.
The comments did little to provide any meaningful boost to the shared currency, though seemed to help limit any further intraday slide, at least for the time being.
