Citing people familiar with the matter, the New York Times reported that the White House asked television networks to pause prime-time programming on Tuesday to broadcast President Donald Trump’s address to the nation about the government shutdown. Earlier in the day, the White House announced that President Trump would visit the U.S. – Mexico border later this week.
