Analysts at TD Securities note that the Australia’s  Jan consumer confidence fell 4.7%/m to 99.6, compared with 104.4 in Dec.

Key Quotes

“This slide in sentiment last month was expected with the dual negatives of falling house prices and equities hitting the tapes. The translation of sentiment to actual retail sales is rather patchy, but suggests a flatter outcome for Jan rather than the 0.3/0.4%/m seen throughout 2018.”
