According to the latest headlines floating on the wires, via Handelsblatt citing diplomat sources, the EU is ready to make further offers on the backstop to Britain.

The news did provide a minor lift to the British Pound, though the caveat that the initiative should come from Ireland kept a lid on any runaway rally.
