The Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed on Tuesday, the UK’s average weekly earnings, excluding bonuses met expectations, arriving at 3.3% 3m y/y in March versus 3.4% last and 3.3% expected while the gauge including bonuses came in at 3.2% 3m y/y in March versus 3.5 previous and 3.4% expected.
The Kingdom’s official jobless rate ticked lower to 3.8% in March, while the claimant count change showed a slight bigger-than-expected increase.
The number of people claiming jobless benefits rose by 24.7k in April, against expectations of a 24.2k increase and +22.6k (revised from +28.3k) seen previously. The claimant count rate steadied at 3.0%.
