The total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in Spain increased by 5,252, or 2.9%, on Friday to 188,068. This reading marked the biggest increase in five days, head of health emergencies Fernando Simon said at a news conference.
Meanwhile, the death toll in the country increased to 19,478 from 19,130 in the last 24 hours, as reported by Reuters.
Market reaction
These readings were largely ignored by the market participants and Spain’s IBEX 35 Index was last seen adding 2.8% on a daily basis.
