The European Commission president, Ursula von der Leyen was out with some Brexit-related comments in the last hour and raised doubts over the prospects for a deal.

The comments, however, did little to prompt any selling around the British pound as investors remain optimistic over the possibility of a last-minute agreement. The GBP/USD pair was last seen trading near the top end of its daily range, around the 1.3375-80 region.
