According to RTE’s Europe Editor Tony Connelly, the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier told EU ambassadors that there has been no breakthrough on the fisheries question.
Separately, Reuters cited a senior EU diplomat saying that Barnier’s briefing was rather downbeat on prospects of a deal.
The not so optimistic Brexit-related headlines took its toll on the British pound and dragged the GBP/USD pair back below the 1.3400 round-figure mark.
