Reuters quoted a Japanese Foreign Ministry official on condition of anonymity, saying that the Japanese PM Abe is likely to remind the US President Trump about Tokyo’s security concerns in his two-way talks on Thursday, as Trump seeks a historic deal with North Korea’s leader Kim Jung Un next week.
The official noted: “Japan has repeatedly made clear that Japan is seeking complete, verifiable and irreversible dismantlement of all the weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles of all ranges, and Japan’s position has not yet changed.”
“We think the U.S., of course, understands Japan’s position,” the official added.
