German Economy Minister Peter Altmaier is crossing the wires early on Tuesday, warning that it is currently unclear if France’s government budget will violate EU budgetary rules.
Though Altmaier did note that he believes France has “room to maneuver” on the current budget, France’s current budget stance sees the French government hitting a budget deficit of 3.4% in 2019, a tough bargain to sell with Italy getting crushed underfoot by the European Council over a significantly smaller ratio.
