China: Weak reading of Caixin PMI – TDS

Analysts at TD Securities point out that  China’s Caixin PMI dropped below 50 for the first time since May 2017, coming in at 49.7 in Dec.

“The data echoed the drop in official manufacturing PMI which fell to 49.4. The Caixin PMI is composed of smaller and more export orientated companies and despite trade hopes, downward pressure remains in place as growth both within and outside China slows.”
