Nancy Patricia D’Alesandro Pelosi, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, recently crossed the wires saying that following their meeting, congressional leaders and President Trump agreed to continue conversations over the government shutdown. “Meeting with Trump on government shutdown was sometimes contentious. We cannot resolve border issue until the government is reopened,” Pelosi added.
Meanwhile, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer told reporters that President Trump said that the would keep the government closed for months or even years and reiterated that it would be hard to see progress unless the government was reopened.
