According to analysts at TD Securities, the next attempt at the “Meaningful Vote” for the UK will take place at 2:30pm GMT Friday.
Key Quotes
“The government is separating the Withdrawal Agreement out from the Political Declaration (so it is not quite as “meaningful”), and if the WA is passed, then Brexit day will be 22 May in accordance with the Article 50 extension agreement signed off with the EU last week.”
“Both Labour and the DUP have come out against the vote, so unless something changes before 2:30pm Friday (and don’t rule that out completely), then the vote looks certain to fail. That turns focus to Monday’s “round 2″ of Indicative Votes, where it’s hoped that a majority of MPs will support a single way forward (such as a Customs Union). Should that too fail, an election looks increasingly necessary to break the Westminster logjam.”
