Ahead of talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Tehran on Monday, the German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas delivered some upbeat remarks on the Iranian trade vehicle, Instex, a European payment system for barter-based trade with Iran designed to circumvent the US sanctions.
Maas is scheduled to meet Iran’s President Rouhani and his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif, as part of a European effort to salvage Iran’s nuclear pact with world powers and defuse rising US-Iranian tension.
Last hour, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mousavi said that Iran has not seen practical, tangible measures from the European Union (EU) so far to salvage 2015 nuclear deal.
