In an interview with Reuters, Boris Johnson, one of the candidates to succeed British Prime Minister Theresa May, said that he doesn’t think that parliament is going to want to stop Brexit. “The Conservative party is staring down the barrel now of political extinction unless we do Brexit,” Johnson added.
“British lawmakers will look at their responsibilities over Brexit in a spirit of maturity and restraint.”
Regarding the conflict in the Middle East, “We do have to think of ways of constraining Iran’s disruptive behaviour in the region,” Johnson said. “I believe that engaging with Iran and persuading Iran not to go forward with a nuclear weapons programme is the right way forward.”
Meanwhile, the GBP/USD continues to fluctuate in its narrow daily trading range and was last seen down 0.15% at 1.2572.
