EU’s Barnier: Brexit talks did not move forward swiftly this week

The EU’s chief negotiator, Michel Barnier, while addressing a press conference on the latest round of the EU-UK negotiations, said that there is very little time left to conclude Brexit negotiations.

Additional Quotes:

  • Have two months to find accord with the UK.
  • Brexit talks did not move forward swiftly this week.
  • The deal needs to be ready by the end of October to leave time for ratification.

The comments did little to influence the British pound, with the GBP/USD holding weaker near the lower end of its daily trading range, around the 1.3185-80 region.
