US: Goods and services trade deficit narrows to $68.9 billion in April

  • US Goods and Services Trade Balance arrived at -$68.9  billion in April.
  • US Dollar Index continues to move sideways above 90.00.

The goods and services deficit of the US declined by $6.1 billion to $68.9 billion in April from $75 billion in March, the US Census Bureau reported on Tuesday. This reading came in slightly better than the market expectation of $69 billion.

“April exports were $205.0 billion, $2.3 billion more than March exports,” the publication further read. “April imports were $273.9 billion, $3.8 billion less than March imports.”

Market reaction

This report doesn’t seem to be having a significant impact on the greenback’s performance against its rivals. As of writing, the US Dollar Index was posting small daily gains at 90.04.
