Brexit: More than 700K British citizens have signed petition to revoke Article 50

A petition, created by former college lecturer Margaret Anne Georgiadou, calling for Article 50 to be revoked and allow the UK to remain in the EU has been already signed by more than 730,000 people. According to the UK Parliament’s website, where the petition is displayed, Parliament has to consider the petition for debate if it gets more than 100,000 signatures.

“The government repeatedly claims exiting the EU is ‘the will of the people’. We need to put a stop to this claim by proving the strength of public support now, for remaining in the EU. A People’s Vote may not happen – so vote now,” reads the petition titled “Revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU.”

In an interview with BBC,  “I became like every other Remainer – very frustrated that we’ve been silenced and ignored for so long,” said  Margaret Anne Georgiadou. “So I think now it’s almost like a dam bursting, because we’ve been held back in a sense – it’s almost like last chance salon now.”
