Coronavirus update: Beijing reports 7 new cases, S. Korea sees possibility of community spread

According to China’s National Health Commission (NHC), Beijing city reports seven new coronavirus cases as of end-June 23 vs. 13 cases reported a day earlier.

Meanwhile, Health authorities in South Korea said it’s more worried about the imported cases after 16 infections on a Russian-flagged cargo ship docked at the southern port city of Busan added to a recent spike in case number.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 46 new cases on Tuesday, 30 of them imported, bringing the total number of infections to 12,484, while the death toll has reached 281.

The concern is rising over the possibility of community spread, the health authorities noted.

Meanwhile, Reuters said that the coronavirus cases in the US surged 25% in the week ended June 21 compared from the week before, according to its analysis. The states of Texas and Arizona set records in their outbreaks.
