Industrial activity in the Eurozone saw an upturn in January, after two straight monthly declines. Industrial production bounced by 1.4% m/m in January after dropping by 0.9% in December, beating expectations of a 1.0% rebound. On an annualized basis, the factory output dipped by 1.1% in the reported month versus a 4.2% drop seen last. According to Eurostat, among Member states for which data are available, the highest increases in industrial production m/m were registered in Ireland (+15.1%), Croatia (+9.6%) and Slovenia (+5.9%). The largest decreases were observed in Denmark (-8.6%), Latvia (-3.6%) and Romania (-1.5%).
