Former Bank of Japan (BoJ) Governor Masaaki Shirakawa, while speaking in Korea, noted that Japan’s growth rate is doing reasonably well despite the nation’s aging population.

Shirakawa noted Japan faces demographic challenges, and remains optimistic  as the nation continues to struggle with lagging inflation and disappointing economic reactions to the central bank’s hyper-easy monetary policy.

Masaaki Shirakawa was Governor of the Bank of Japan from 2008 to 2013, and is currently a Director at the Bank of International Settlements.
