Obama Inagurated – Dollar still strong

Barack Obama has been inaugurated as the 44th president of the USA. When he took the oath, he made a speech and talked about the economy.

In his inauguration speech, he said that there are big challenges. Though this brought Wall Street down, the USD remained strong as it did throughout the day. EUR/USD and GBP/USD remain at the new lows, below 1.30 and 1.40 respectively.

Obama said that “we will begin remaking America”. He promised to lay a new foundation for growth, vowing to act swiftly and boldly, and open an eye on the market.

Time will tell if his call for hard work and his optimism despite the serious economic challenges will keep the dollar on an upward trend.
