Donald Trump sworn in as US President – Dollar stable

This is happening. Donald Trump is taking the oath of office in a historic  ceremony on Capitol Hill in Washington. The press has not received any excerpt of his speech.

Trump  says that power is being transferred from Washington DC to the people of America. Trump mentions the closure of factories and lashes against the establishment. The USA is your country, says Trump. He says today will be the day the people became the rulers of the nation again. The forgotten people will be forgotten no more.

Update:  President Trump does not presidential – JPY rises, MXN falls

He talks about people wanting good jobs for  themselves. He talks about inner cities, tombstone factories, etc. This American carnage ends right here and right now.

The US dollar initially advanced ahead of Trump’s inauguration, but retreated afterward. All in all, markets are quiet, but Trump’s rise to power has been accompanied by high volatility, and there are good reasons to believe this will continue through the first days and  afterward. The Asian market open on Monday could be interesting.

President Trump could sign executive orders over the weekend, but he signaled that he will begin working on Monday, January 23rd.
