Donald downs the dollar – as it happened

President-Elect Donald Trump met the press for the first time since July and the first time since the victory in November. The US dollar has rallied on hopes for fiscal stimulus from the new administration, while ignoring worries about trade wars.

However, there was no mention of fiscal stimulus and that is dollar negative. On the other hand, he does promise more companies coming back to America, the trade war stuff that scares markets. The presser focuses on the Russian hacking stories and Trump’s stepping away from his business.

Trump’s lawyer elaborates on the “wall” between Donald Trump and the Trump Organization. After Trump returned to the stage, he talked about a border tax and was mostly busy talking about Russian hacking and bashing the press.
